The Karptsov Family – A Story of Courage, Kindness, and Love

Some stories touch the deepest corners of the heart and remind us that even in the darkest times, people are capable of extraordinary acts. The story of the Korptsov family is one of them.

They lost their son in this war. He had saved hundreds of lives by evacuating people from the frontlines. Before his final mission, he called his parents and asked: “Can we adopt a little girl?” His parents answered: “Yes, just come back alive.” But, sadly, he never did…

After months of grief and reflection, his parents made a life-changing decision—to fulfill their son’s last wish. They found the girl he spoke of and traveled to Europe to bring her home, as many Ukrainian orphanages had been relocated due to the war. But when they arrived, they encountered something unexpected.

As they stepped inside, three more children—a boy and two little girls—ran up to them, asking with hopeful eyes: “Are you my mom?”

In that moment, the family faced an impossible choice: adopt only the girl their son had spoken about or take in all four children. Without hesitation, they decided to welcome them all. One of the children had cerebral palsy, adding to the challenges ahead, but their hearts left no room for doubt.

They returned home not with one, but four children—where their youngest biological son was already waiting for them. Their family had now grown to five children, a beacon of love and resilience in the face of war.

Like many others, they lost everything when they fled Luhansk region and have been rebuilding their lives from nothing ever since.

Ukraine Power Stands With Those in Need

When Ukraine Power learned about this incredible family, we reached out to ask how we could help. At first, they didn’t even believe that real help was possible. They were too humble to ask for anything. This story is a testament to the power of love and resilience. The Korptsov family is a shining example of strength, kindness, and selflessness in times of war.
